There are a lot of things that I'd like to do before I die. I have no intention of dying yet, but before I do, here are some goals and dreams that I would like to achieve.
1) Travel the world. Luckily I have been able to do a lot of travelling in my life, but I still want to do even more. I'd like to do specific things in each state or city or country. See Mount Rushmore, swim in Miami Beach, visit the Holy Land, spend even more time in New York City, drive through Rodeo Drive on a motorbike, go skiing in the SIerra Nevada, watch a soccer game in Brazil or Argentina, tour SOuth Africa on a safari, walk through London Bridge or go watch Wimbledon in the U.K., watch a rodeo in Dallas, go roadtripping and/or backpacking in Australia, snorkeling off of the coast of New Zealand, check out museums in Belgium and the Netherlands, eat felafel in Israel and visit the Holy Land, dance an Irish jig to live music in Newfoundland, Canada, visit and tour the Great Wall of China, eat sushi in Japan, cruise the islands of the Caribbean and West Indies. The list could potentially go on and on and on and on, but I definetly want to do a lot more travelling and people-meeting, both domestically and abroad. Culture adds so much to our lives. It truly does.
2) Go back and get my bachelor's degree FINALLY. Due to personal circumstances, I have yet to add to my associates degree in liberal arts from a reputable accredited community college. But I'm pushing 40 now and time is of the essence-I'm not getting any younger. Hopefully I will do that soon.
3) Get married and have kids. Yeah-I am a late bloomer I know. I'll cross that bridge if and when it happens. For whatever reason it hasn't happened yet, hopefully I'll meet ms. right most likely more sooner than later.
4)EXplore Manhattan even more. Yeah, I do live on Long Island and true, the city is only a train ride away, but even though there's lots to do on the island, there's even MORE to do in the city. I'd like to get involved in the writing scene, especially the MUSIC writing scene in NYC. There'a always so much stuff going on. Theatre, music, sports, concerts, parades, festivals, you get the idea. Yeah, the island is great, but the city is GREATER. In my opinion, that is.
5)Get a song of mine published. Wishful thinking, some may say. But if you don't dream of it and about it, it might never happen. I would LOVE to write songs and compose for a famous songwriter someday.
6) Volunteer and/ or intern more. In giving you receive more, and it becomes a positive domino effect. I have volunteered in food service and clerical positions before, but once I find an idea or a cause that I can really relate to and am passionate about, I'll really go for it. I have some ideas up my sleeve......
7) Write an autobiography. I did one in 1986 when in 6th grade, but I was 11 at the time, and one can't really know what one's life will be like when at that tender age. Besides, I got a C- for it, mostly because the typing was poor and the presentation was weak. Nevertheless, I think that my life is important, so why not share it with others?
8) Improve relations with those who I can. They say you can't really go back and change things, the past is the past, and one shouldn't look back, and that is all true, but nevertheless, I'd still like to mend fences and unburn bridges with SOME people that I might not have had the GREATEST relationship with. That is, to the extent that I can.
Hopefully this might resonate with some-these 8 "goals" that I have accumulated over my almost 4 decades of existence. In January of 2015, it WILL be 4! LOL. Yes, the big 40 is on the way.
More to come.........
